The Jordan Trail Among 21 Best Places to Visit in 2018 According to National Geographic Traveler’s Editors

WTTEN-عالم السياحة-WASHINGTON (Dec. 18, 2017) – National Geographic Traveler magazine revealed the 2018 Best of the World, its annual list of the 21 must-see destinations to visit in the year ahead. The Jordan Trail was among Traveler editors’ top picks for places under the Culture and Nature umbrella. The selections were divided into three key categories: Cities, Culture and Nature. The full results are in the December/January 2018 issue of Traveler magazine, now available on newsstands and online at NatGeoTravel.com/BestTrips2018.

“Our mission is to inspire curiosity and encourage our readers to explore the world with passion and purpose,” said George Stone, National Geographic Traveler editor in chief. “The 21 places that we profile make for a year of exhilarating discoveries and a dream itinerary for intrepid travelers. Our list is relevant for 2018; these are places that will shine bright in the coming year. Our list is guided by National Geographic values of cultural engagement, heritage preservation, and ecological conservation and sustainability. Our list is fun, vivid, surprising and rewarding. These are 21 destinations around the world selected and reported on by our editors that reveal the beauty of the wild, the creativity of our cultures and the superlatives of our cities.”

Chairwoman of the Jordan Trail Association, Muna Haddad said; “This is a well-deserved honor for the Jordan Trail and a celebration for Jordan. We are grateful to this esteemed recognition from National Geographic and encourage its readers to take on the epic adventure of getting to know Jordan intimately by hiking the trail and meeting its hospitable people. So many passionate hikers worked hard for years to make Jordan’s diverse outdoors accessible through realizing the dream of the Jordan Trail, this important recognition is a celebration of that effort in putting Jordan on the global adventure tourism map”.

The Jordan Trail is a 650 km hiking trail crossing Jordan from North to South, free, open and accessible to all those that wish to hike it. Haddad added, “We have seen an increased number of Jordanians and international tourists going out hiking the trail, enjoying their country and getting to know it differently. We look forward to the continued support from our partners and supporters to further develop the trail and maximize on its ability to act as an economic catalyst in the areas where it passes.”
